At the 2006 State of the Union address, former oil-man President Bush said America is addicted to oil. This represented a dramatic acknowledgement that America needs to take significant steps to reduce its oil consumption. And like all addictions, it won't be easy to change our behavior. Almost now 20 Years later and we have yet to see large scale changes in our consumption habits. We are looking to help make the change with the introduction of the Indy One

Declare Your Independence with the Indy One

In 2007 we began building the Indy One to compete in the Automotive X-Prize. When they made the rules require 2 person seating and the competition included spending millions to build cars, the project was mothballed. But since then, even the X-prize winners have not produced on the promise to make these cars available. And others have tried and failed after collecting millions in funding. That is how many good ideas fail; having too much money! When you have millions of dollars, or better yet, get government funding, actually delivery on the promise isn't really required. Furthermore, venture capitalist are funding 'home runs' and have no interest in small-scale success.

There is another way. The 'crowd-funding' phenomenon! By by-passing the VCs and going direct to customers on a small scale, this will allow us to be successful and make the change starting small. We will be launching a campaign for the Indy One to take our humble little 3-wheeler to the next level.

The key to providing a vehicle that can be quickly and easily built is having a complete body available. Doing one-off custom bodywork is extremely time consuming and difficult. We need to build fiberglass molds that will allow us to make composite body panels quickly and at low-cost.

The current vehicle was started in 2007, and uses a Series DC motor and Geo Metro components. The idea has evolved. The new vehicle will be more modern, and will be based on Toyota Prius components. Millions of Prius have been sold, making their advanced components easily available and cost-effective for adaption into a smaller efficient three-wheeled all-electric car.

We are looking to get feedback on the level of kits people want and the kind of price points needed to have a marketable vehicle.
